  • Calvary Baptist, 620 Rutledge Ave, Charleston SC.

AlphaAlpha is an opportunity to explore life and the Christian faith in a friendly, open and informal environment. Essentially, Alpha is a safe place to explore life’s biggest questions. It creates an environment of hospitality, where people who might not call themselves a Christian can discover and develop a relationship with Jesus. No two Alphas look the same, but they generally have three key things in common: tasty food, an Alpha talk and good conversation. Each talk looks at a different question about Christianity and is designed to facilitate discussion. Alpha is also for people who already know Christ as it provides an evening to which they can invite friends to explore life’s big questions with them.

The Psalms have shaped the prayers and worship of God’s people for three thousand years. They were the prayers of Jesus and his disciples continue to use them to grow in their relationship with God. The Psalms help us find words for prayer and worship in both the heights and depths of human life. Through the Psalms we learn to bring our whole selves into God’s presence: not only to rejoice, but to pray our tears, fears, and anger.  Course instructors include Dr. Erika Moore,  The Rev’d Dr. Chris Hancock and others. Scholarships available: contact Karen Gaddy (KGaddy@StAndrews.Church or 843.284.4316).

If you desire to better recognize where Jesus intersects your life and the ability to communicate His presence and power to others, contact Andy Breaux (843-296-2052, ABreaux@StAndrews.Church) for more details.

In this intensive, we will consider questions such as “why can’t I believe what I want?” and “won’t a loving God forgive everyone in the end?”
