Calling All Carolers

Mayor Will Haynie, a St. Andrew’s member, has organized a task force called “Operation Covid Christmas” to oversee several events during December designed to show appreciation to frontline medical workers, provide Christmas cheer to retirement community residents, and gather monetary donations for unemployed East Cooper hospitality workers.  St. Andrew’s has been asked to help support this effort by providing Christmas Carolers for all of these activities.  This is a wonderful opportunity for us to bring some Christmas Cheer to a wide variety of folks.

This is a great opportunity for individuals, Life Groups, or entire families. Here are the kinds of activities we need to support:

Caroling for residents of local Retirement Communities

    • Saturday, December 12, 2 – 4 pm.
    • Sunday, December 13, 2 – 4 pm.

Caroling for East Cooper Hospital healthcare worker appreciation and feeding

    • Monday, December 14, 5 – 7 pm.
    • Bishop Steve Wood, a patient at East Cooper during his battle with Covid,  will be speaking at this event.

Caroling for Meals on Wheels

    • Small groups of Carolers will accompany Meals on Wheels delivery drivers
    • December 14, 18, 21, 23; 9:30 – 11 am.

We’re looking for lots of folks who can carry a tune and who want to spread the joy of Christ and the season.  Masks are required, and song sheets will be provided. Carolers for all of these activities are being coordinated by our Organist and Choirmaster, Mark Bebensee.  Please contact Mark via email (MBebensee@StAndrews.Church) or text (843-270-7325) to let him know of your willingness to help. He can provide more detailed information and instructions for each event.  If you can hum a Christmas Carol that someone else could recognize when they hear you, you are exactly who we need.
