Sign up to participate with us: 40 Days of Prayer & Fasting
Don’t just take our word for it . . . take His! We would encourage you to spend time examining the following Scriptures that shaped this sermon:Mark 9:14-29
The events of the past two weeks have thrown our nation and much of the world into turmoil, not that it wasn’t already in deep enough trouble. A scourge that some had hoped was long gone was once again revealed to be something that many still live with every day. Racial injustice.
What do you do when you face a foe for which you have tried everything you can think of to overcome? This story in Mark has striking parallels with today’s front page news of dealing with an evil that refuses to go away. Some kinds “cannot be driven away by anything but prayer and fasting.”
- What parallels do you see between this passage and the world’s long search for a cure for racial injustice?
- What specific advances have been made in America in dealing with it?
- How have you grown aware of any personal racial prejudice towards others? How so?
- How might committing to a season of prayer and fasting be used to make us more aware of what God would want us to do to end this terrible evil?
