Wait there’s More!

Bible Study

Don’t just take our word for it . . . take His! We would encourage you to spend time examining the following Scriptures that shaped this sermon: John 14:8-17; Acts 2:1-13: 2 Peter 1:1-15

Sermon Outline

The gospel does not stop at our sins being forgiven; there is much more to the good news mission. The Holy Spirit accomplishes many things in our world and our lives. Two chief things he does for believers are:

  • Establishes and seals WHO WE ARE
  • Empowers and guides WHAT WE DO

Through the Holy Spirit, believers continue to the mission of God through being and doing as God’s children in the world.

Sermon Application

  • In what ways might the world press people into identities?
  • Reflect on being sealed by the Holy Spirit. How does that security make you feel?
  • Does knowing you’re a child of God make a difference in how you live?
  • How does being a son or daughter of God change the way you live?
  • How can Jesus say, “you will do greater works than me.”?
  • Discuss: the Father does works through Jesus; Jesus does works through me. What role does the Holy Spirit play?
  • Reflect on your daily interactions. In what areas do you most reflect Jesus?
  • Reflect on your daily attitudes. Do you notice the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5) in your life?
  • The outline and application questions are intended for your further reflection and action upon the weekend message. They are also designed to facilitate discussion and accountability within your LifeGroup.
